Eligibility Criteria for Courses/Training

Nationality: Only bonafide Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
Domicile: There is no domiciliary restriction. Candidates from all states and union territories of India are eligible to apply.
Reservation: There is no reservation for DM, MCh, Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and Post-Doctoral Certificate Courses. Reservation will apply as per rules for other programs.

DM Courses and
Senior Residents (Hospital Service)
(Cardiology, Clinical Immunology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology,  Nephrology, and Neurology).
MD (Medicine) or MD (Pediatrics) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
DM (Medical Genetics) and 
Senior Residents (Hospital Service) (Medical Genetics).
MD (Medicine), MD (Pediatrics) or MD (Gynecology and Obstetrics) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
MCh Courses and 
Senior Residents (Hospital Service)
(Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Neurosurgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, and Urology).
MS (Surgery) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Post-Doctoral Fellowship
Renal Transplantation Medicine (Nephrology), Renal Transplantation Surgery (Urology) and Pancreatico-biliary Surgery (Surgical Gastroenterology).
DM or MCh in the concerned discipline.
Post-Doctoral Certificate Courses (PDCC)  
Apheresis Technology and Component Therapy MD (Pathology) or MD in any other medical discipline or equivalent degree recognised by the Medical Council of India. Candidates with MD in disciplines other than Pathology should have at least three years' experience in blood banking.
Cardiac-Anaesthesia
 
MD (Anaesthesiology) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Endocrine Surgery MS (Surgery) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Gastro-Radiology MD (Radiology)/ MD (Radiodiagnosis) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Infectious Diseases MD (Microbiology) or MD (General/Internal Medicine) or MD (Pediatrics) or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Laboratory Immunology MD (Pathology) or MD (Microbiology) or MD (Biochemistry) or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Neuro-Anaesthesia MD (Anaesthesiology) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Neuro-Radiology MD (Radiology)/ MD (Radiodiagnosis) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Nuclear Nephro-Urology MD (Nuclear Medicine) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Pediatric Endocrinology
Pediatric Gastroenterology
MD (Pediatrics) degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India.

MBBS degree or another equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India, including completion of compulsory internship on or before May 1st of the year of start of session.
Senior Residents (Hospital Services)
(Anaesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Clinical Hematology/BMT, Endocrine Surgery, Laboratory Hematology, Microbiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Radiodiagnosis, Radiotherapy, and Transfusion Medicine).
MD/MS in the respective specialty or equivalent qualification recognised by the Medical Council of India. 
  • Qualification for Critical Care Medicine is postgraduate degree (MD or equivalent) in Internal Medicine/ Anaesthesiology/ Pulmonary Medicine/ Chest Medicine or Pediatrics. 
  • For Clinical Hematology/BMT, candidates having MD (Medicine) or MD (Pediatrics) or equivalent can apply. 
  • Qualification for Laboratory Hematology is MD (Pathology) or equivalent. 
  • For Nuclear Medicine, candidates having MBBS with DRM can also apply. 
  • Qualification for Transfusion Medicine is MD (Transfusion Medicine) or MD (Pathology) or equivalent. Candidates having MBBS with PhD in Transfusion Medicine can also apply.
PhD Courses
(Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Immunology, Medical Genetics, Microbiology, Neurology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Radiotherapy and Transfusion Medicine).
MBBS with one year's research experience MVSc, MSc (with science subjects), M Pharm, M Tech in Biotechnology or MD or MS degree with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for candidates belonging to reserved categories).
Fellowship
Biostatistics
M.Stat or M.Sc. (Biostatistics/Applied Statistics/Statistics) or MCA with mathematics or statistics at the graduate level.

Age

DM/MCh/PDCC 35 years. Age relaxation may be given to widow, divorced or legally separated women and reserved category candidates as per government rules.
MD Upper age limit is 30 years as on 1st January of the corresponding year. Maximum 5-years age relaxation may be given to widow, divorced or legally separated women and 2-years to SC/ST/OBC category candidates.
Post-Doctoral Fellowship No age bar.
PhD No age bar.
Sponsored Candidates
Admission to various courses is also open for candidates sponsored by Central/State Government organizations, Universities, and Defence Sevices, subject to following conditions.
1. Sponsored candidates will not be provided any relaxation in age, method of selection, duration of courses, practical training, pattern of examation, and payment of prescribed fee, etc. 
2. SGPGIMS will not pay the candidates any salary/stipend or any other emoluments for the entire period of training. 
3. The sponsored candidates should provide a certificate from their sponsoring authorities certifying that: 
a. The candidate is permanent employee of the sponsoring organization. 
b. He/she will be relieved for three years for completing DM/MCh course and for one year for PDF/PDCC programs. 
c. The candidate after getting the training/course at SGPGI will be suitably employed by the sponsoring organization to work in the specialty in which the training is provided. 
d. The sponsoring authority shall be responsible for payment of salary or any other emoluments to the candidate during the period of training.
4. The sponsorship certificate should be attached with the application form, failing with the application will not be entertained.
